Improvements for HTML5 Viewer in webCube

Viewing PDFs in the HTML5-Viewer (rendered with ImagingService) has a couple of disadvantages compared to the default viewer (Webbrowser):

  • It is not possible to copy / paste text or content from the PDF

  • It is no longer possible to search the content of the PDF

  • The table of content gets removed (if the original PDF had one)

We think it would be a much better viewing experience if those function were available also in the HTML5 Viewer.

    These are useful requirements we will take into account when redesigning our viewer component (currently planned for 14.2, Q2/2025). As workaround it is possible to use the embedded browser pdf viewer in webCube by configuring this in webCube admin setting.

    btw. searching in pdf content is already possible:
