Viewing PDFs in the HTML5-Viewer (rendered with ImagingService) has a couple of disadvantages compared to the default viewer (Webbrowser):
It is not possible to copy / paste text or content from the PDF
It is no longer possible to search the content of the PDF
The table of content gets removed (if the original PDF had one)
We think it would be a much better viewing experience if those function were available also in the HTML5 Viewer.
Hi All,
in addition to my last comment, also it should be possible to send documents as an attachment without needing to use a service-user in the background and giving this user rights to sendAs all employees of the company.

Hi All,
another Improvement that i want to add is the possibility to print from the HTML5 Viewer without using Smartcube. We would like to use HTML5-Viewer so we can use annotations, but printing is not posssible. So everytime a user wants to print a document he needs to open the document in webbrowser or download it temporarily and do the printing from there.

Benjamin Schaller
These are useful requirements we will take into account when redesigning our viewer component (currently planned for 14.2, Q2/2025). As workaround it is possible to use the embedded browser pdf viewer in webCube by configuring this in webCube admin setting.
btw. searching in pdf content is already possible:
